Day Hiker to Stockton Island with Apostle Islands Cruises
Apostle Islands Cruises in Bayfield offers a number of great cruises to view various sights around the Apostle Islands from the decks of one of their cruise boats. But those of you with a desire to actually get out onto one of the islands might consider one of their cruises with an island stop included.
A fun option for those of you who want to hike, and maybe even take a dip in Lake Superior at one of the most beautiful beaches in the area, should consider the Stockton Island Dayhiker. This cruise shuttles campers to Stockton and Michigan Island. Dayhikers wanting to spend a couple of hours on Stockton can take this shuttle, which drops you off with the Stockton campers, and returns to pick you up two hours later after dropping off the Michigan Island group. Stockton offers several long trails, but it’s only .4 miles through the forest on the Julian Bay Trail to the “singing sands” beach at Julian Bay. And if you take the trail above the beach you will be treated to views of forest, beach, lagoon, and dunes — and a whole host of delicate and unusual plant life! Well worth the trip!!!
